Francois van Coke en Vriende will be rocking it up at the Grand Arena at GrandWest on Friday 3 May 2019.
Francois van Coke, raised in Cape Town’s northern suburbs, rose to fame as the legendary front man of celebrated South African rock bands Fokofpolisiekar (2003 – to now) and Van Coke Kartel (2007 – 2017). Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel which raked in five SAMAs, MK and numerous other awards. He launched his solo career in 2015 with the release of the most poignant ballad of that year, Toe Vind Ek Jou featuring Karen Zoid. The song quickly jumped to the number one position on iTunes and became the biggest Afrikaans music video of 2015, with more than one million views. In 2019, Francois joined Riky Rick, Riana Nel and Lira in the iconic red coaches’ chairs for the third season of The Voice South Africa.
Last year Francois decided to celebrate his long legacy by hosting a rock spectacular, showcasing his collaborations with various prominent local artists with whom he has produced some of South Africa’s most memorable songs.
“Highlight of my career”
Francois says, “The Francois van Coke en Vriende 2018 Pretoria show was without a doubt the highlight of my career. It was inevitable that I bring this show to my city, Cape Town.”
The backbone of this show will be Francois van Coke with his band, Die Gevaar, who will perform various songs from his solo career. During the show his friends will join him on stage to perform the anthems they’ve created together, as well as their own hits.
The friends for Cape Town include: Jack Parow, Majozi, Fokofpolisiekar, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Laudo Liebenberg, Coenie de Villers, Early B, Arno Carstens, Van Coke Kartel and Riana Nel.
