Save the date for South Africa’s French inspired 25th annual Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2018 at the Franschhoek Huguenot Monument on 14 and 15 July 2018. A social calendar highlight, the weekend-long event is guaranteed to bring out the Parisian in you.

Bastille Food & Wine Marquee

The Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2018 will embrace its French heritage and flesh out the French theme at a Food & Wine Marquee set against the backdrop of the historic Huguenot Monument. The marquee will keep out the cold and offer views of the mountain.

There’ll be ample parking on the grounds to allow for comfortable walking distance to and from the village.

Here you can sample the superb local Franschhoek wines on offer, or treat yourself to a selection of delicious gourmet fare from some of Franschhoek’s well-known eateries.

Porcupine Ridge Barrel Rolling Competition

Added fun on weekend of Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2018 will be a quirky caricature artist who will capture your Bastille experience; the popular Porcupine Ridge Barrel Rolling Competition and live music.

Keep in mind that a beret and baguette add the extra pizzazz needed for a memorable French winelands experience.

Tasting glass, wine coupons booklet

Tickets to the Food & Wine Marquee are R350 (Saturday) and R280 (Sunday). This includes a complimentary tasting glass, a booklet of five Bastille wine tasting coupons and a R20 voucher which is redeemable on the day. Additional coupons can be purchased on the day.

Sunday’s festivities are ideally suited for the whole family with ample fun kiddies’ entertainment for the young ones.

Also look out for the first edition of the Winemaking and Movies Festival that the French Consulate organizes this year. On Friday 13 July 2018 they introduce the Franschhoek Bastille Day Festival with a screening of Back to Burgundy – the perfect movie for France to highlight the cooperation between the French region of Burgundy and the Western Cape that began in 2001.
