Make a plan to head out to the annual Off the Grid Music Festival, an outdoor summer event set on a beautiful organic farm. Expect a fun filled family day with great music and amazing people. The line-up of diverse musicians promises rock, hip hop, Afro- funk, pop, traditional and electronic.
Bootleggers Blues, The Steezies
This year Off the Grid will launch with The Cape Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble, a vibrant young group who play a repertoire of classics and contemporary music. They will be followed by Bootleggers Blues Band, The Steezies with their Afro funk energy that blends western music, African harmonies and hip hop while flashing some fabulous outfits.
Next up will be The Stone Jets, Radio Kalahari Orkes led by Ian Roberts and live electronic act The Kiffness. Gates open at 3pm with DJ Jake Wildheart.
Camphill Village WestCoast MD James Sleigh says: “This is our 4th music festival and we are thrilled with our 2018 line-up. This year we also want to focus on making it an environmentally sustainable event, to tie in with the goals of Camphill Village. We are hoping to encourage groups to cycle to the event, and we will even have a party that walks along the west coast to the event.”
Art installations, Camphill market
Along with these green event initiatives, there will also be art installations, a Camphill market, kids safe zone and entertainment area, SAB tent and a variety of food stalls.
Camphill Village Westcoast is home to approximately 95 intellectually disabled adults who also work on the farm in a dairy, bakery, cosmetics workshop and on the land. The Off the Grid Festival is a fundraising event.
