The Suidoosterfees Talent Search 2019 in the Western Cape offers some exciting opportunities for young and upcoming talent. The sixth annual Suidoosterfees Talent Search 2019 will take place between September and November 2019, and aims to create opportunities through workshops, mentorship and job creation.

Seven qualifying rounds

This year the festival will host seven qualifying rounds in Cape Town, Wellington, Athlone, Mitchells Plain,  Bellville, Khayelitsha and the Overberg. The main objective of this project is to discover new talent in the Western Cape. The project also focuses on educating participants and their communities on the arts, the industry and the Suidoosterfees, as well as offering training to participants and winners to further develop their art. Lastly, the project aims to expose participants to resources that will aid them in developing a career in the arts industry.

Young people between the age of nine and 25 with talent in categories such as singing, instrumental, dance, acting, magic and more are invited to enter.

Participants are encouraged to enter prior to the event date as there are limited spaces available. There is no entry fee to this competition and winners of the Suidoosterfees Talent Search 2019 stand a chance to win up to R10 000 in cash, along with other amazing prizes and great opportunities within the professional arts industry!

How to enter the Suidoosterfees Talent Search 2019

The first qualifying round for the 2019/20 Talent Search will take place on 14 September 2019 at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town. The next qualifying round of the Talent Search will take place on 21 September 2019 at the Breytenbach Centre in Wellington. On 28 September 2019 it will be in Athlone at the popular music school, The Cape Music Institute.

The 4th qualifying round will take place on 5 October 2019 at the performing arts school, Cedar High School in Mitchells Plain. On 12 October it will be at the CR Louw Auditorium in the Sanlam Head Office Building in Bellville. Thereafter it heads to Bredasdorp, on 26 October 2019. Lastly, it will be at The Shack Arts School and Theatre also known as KASI RC in Khayelitsha on 2 November 2019.

Suidoosterfees Talent Search 2019 Judges

Judges for the 2019/20 Talent Search include the popular entertainer Loukmaan Adams, renowned singer and performer Terry Fortune, well known dancers and choreographers from Jazzart, Elvis Sibeko and Mbovu Malinga, jazz maestro Camillo Lombard and Suidooster soapie actress, Desiré Gardener.

The Suidoosterfees Talent Search Master Class will take place on 14 March 2020 at the Drama Department of the Northlink College in Panorama. Semi-finalists will be mentored for their semi-final performance which will take place on 28 March 2020 at the V & A Waterfront Amphitheatre. The final will be held at the annual Suidoosterfees on 2 May 2020.
