VOX Cape Town’s Eternal Echoes production will be onstage on Saturday, 12 August, 2023, and they can’t wait to welcome you “on an extraordinary musical pilgrimage that transcends the centuries and conjoins diverse choral cultures.”
In addition to marking 150 years since the birth of Rachmaninoff (1873–1943), they will honour notable composers who celebrate significant anniversaries this year: Tchaikovsky (1840–1893), an important mentor to the young Rachmaninoff; Sir John Tavener (1944–2013), whose minimalist visions startled the world; and William Byrd (c. 1540–1623), whose music, bursting with character and pathos, played a profound role in the development of polyphony during the Renaissance.
VOX will also be joined by the Johannesburg-based Chanticleer Singers and their conductor Maestro Richard Cock. Joining forces with them for this performance means that you will be able to enjoy over 50 experienced choral voices interweaving in glorious harmony.
Violina Anguelov-Hobbs
They will also welcome mezzo-soprano Violina Anguelov-Hobbs and saxophonist Liam Burden whose contributions will add an extra sparkle to the musical programme.

If you are curious to hear what goes on behind the scenes at a VOX rehearsal, or if you have you ever wondered how they assemble their immersive choral experiences, join them for an open rehearsal as they put the finishing touches to the music for Eternal Echoes. They will also share some of the creative discoveries that they have made along the way, and offer a few teasers of what you can expect at the performance on Saturday 12 August. It’s on Monday, 31 July ,2023, from 7.30pm to 9.45pm at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, De Waterkant.
