Dianne Cheesman and CJBDianne Cheesman (pictured left) has been Director and Founder of the Cape Junior Ballet company (CJB) since 2005. Her love of classical ballet and vision to offer extension training to Western Cape dancers, could only be achieved with the support and collaboration of studio teachers, as well as a team of outstanding CJB staff.

Under her guidance, opportunities for performances, summer schools and training with guest teachers of different genres of dance have continued successfully for 18 years. Many of these dancers are currently dancing in companies both locally with CTCB  and Internationally.

Due to Dianne’s health, she felt unable to continue her commitment to CJB as Director and so Kim Day, a long standing friend and colleague, has been appointed as the new CJB Director. Although these are big shoes to fill, Dianne has no doubt that together with the expertise of the teaching faculty, Professor Triegaardt, Nicolette Loxton and Robin van Wyk, she will fill with confidence and continue the vision for the company into the future.

Sheila Stirling who is a well known and respected person in the dance community and has been on board since CJB’s inception, has also retired and Kirsten Isenberg, well known choreographer, has been appointed as a director replacing Ms Stirling.

In January this year Dianne was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Dance FRAD, for outstanding and exceptional service rendered over a substantial period of time to the RAD. and to the art of ballet

CJB will present their annual production Symphony on 13 and 14 October 2023 at  Bergvliet High School Hall.
