The Glenlivet Whisky is all set to introduce a new dimension of sophistication to Africa’s richest race day at Kenilworth Race Course on Saturday, 27 January, 2018, with The Glenlivet JazzTown marquee.
World class jazzy vibes
Guests attending The Glenlivet JazzTown marquee will be able to soak up the jazzy vibes of a world-class South African line-up headed up by two phenomenal artists – Judith Sephuma and Jimmy Nevis, along with some of Mzansi’s notable jazz musicians and rising talent in the local jazz arena.
Headline act Judith Sephuma has been dubbed the Queen of Afro Jazz. She is known for her multi-status selling jazz albums and her platinum-status selling gospel album, The Experience Live in Concert. Sephuma’s voice has dominated airwaves for close to two decades, since the release of her debut album, A Cry, A Smile, A Dance, in 2001.
Hybrid house beats
With his inimitable style, Jimmy Nevis is a popular act in the Cape. He has released his third studio album, Quarter Life Crisis, which maintains his high standards.
Other artists on the bill are jazz/soul musician Ndumiso Manana, Standard Bank Young Artist-Jazz award-winner Mark Fransman and DJ Joy Mode aka Joey Modiba, whose soulful jazz house beats transcend genres.
Then there’s two-time Metro FM Music award-winning jazz vocalist Nomfundo Xaluva, Cape Town’s original “saxy vibes” sax wizard Don Vino, plus musical maestro Khenzero – aka Kenneth Bekizizwe Nzama.
