#HEADLINE/RS at Waterfront Theatre School The Waterfront Theatre School will present their annual dance show – #HEADLINE/RS – taking place at the college’s Lane Theatre from 26 August – 5 September 2021.

#HEADLINE/RS will once again showcase the versatility of its students as well as the skilled dance talent at this performing arts centre.  Inspired by a range of recent headlines around the world, #HEADLINE/RS honours, through dance, events and people that have influenced defining moments in global culture.

#HEADLINE/RS choreographers for 2021 

Head of the Advanced Ballet and Modern Department at WTS, Shona Brabant, will bring an eclectic combination of styles showing off her versatility.  This year she presents pointe work and jazz as well as a contemporary routine, which celebrates the feminine and the masculine within the male aesthetic.

Simone Marshall, one of South Africa’s skilled tap teachers, choreographers and festival adjudicators presents a range of evocative routines from commercial tap, showcasing impressive athleticisms as well as some lyrical pieces, exploring the contrasting elements within the genre.

Acclaimed performer and choreographer James Bradley, adds his international performance experience to his choreography for this year’s production. He combines his neoclassical and contemporary professional training to create choreographies crossing many genres.

Innovative choreographer and teacher Marguerite Jones continues to inspire audiences with her moving contemporary routines and this year brings even more originality and power to the stage.

Performer, international contortionist and flexibility Coach, Suné-Lee Esch brings fitness to the stage in a hilarious jazz and 80’s aerobics fusion as well as highlights commercial Moulin Rouge-style choreography with a Rockette ready ensemble.

Multi-medium production company The Outlore explores themes of legacy and anonymity through hip-hop and street dance.

Joining this year’s line-up of choreographers, WTS introduces Roxanne Hughes with, amongst other routine, a sassy K-pop inspired heels number.

#HEADLINE/RS will feature a large ensemble cast of students from first to fourth year.
