Karen Zoid’s passion for music has snagged her the title of Queen of Rock. To celebrate her favourite artists and music influences, she has put together her own Karen Zoid Apple Music Playlist, titled 101 Songs That Never Get Old.
Eclectic listening experience
The Karen Zoid Apple Music Playlist features some of her favourite songs from artists and bands including Pink Floyd, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, John Mayer, Placebo, Pearl Jam, Queen, Adele, Tina Turner and Joni Mitchell – making for an eclectic and exciting listening experience.
Says Karen, “My playlist features songs that I can listen to over and over. Each one of these tunes are masterpieces to my ears. 101 musings and meditations for all the other happy melancholics out there.”
Over the past four seasons, Karen Zoid’s hit entertainment TV talk show Republiek van Zoid Afrika has offered in-depth interviews with some of the country’s best known entertainers and personalities. Each episode sees her perform with her musical guests. Those performances have often become chart topping hits, with albums available to listen on Apple Music and for purchase on iTunes. Republiek van Zoid Afrika Vol 5, featuring songs performed during the current season, is now available on Apple Music.
The 14-track compilation album boasts dynamic South African musicians featuring collaborations with Karen. Guests include Jo Black, Ross Learmonth, Johnny Clegg, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Judith Sephuma, Valiant Swart.
Adds Karen Zoid, “It was a great honour and joy to be able to work with 13 of South Africa’s top artists. This season included iconic legends as well as new stars like Jo Black and Franja Du Plessis.”
