For the first time at the Theatre On The Bay, internationally acclaimed and award-winning South African based guitarist James Grace and dancers from Carli Spanish Dance Productions in Johannesburg present Recuerdos, an all-Spanish guitar and dance programme featuring the music of composers such as Albeéniz, Granados, De Falla, Rodrigo and Tárrega.
The production is set against the backdrop of stunning underwater photography by Ilse Moore, where the sway of skirts and the sounds of guitar and castanets will transport audiences to the beauty and romance of Spain.
James Grace is one of South Africa’s leading classical guitarists. He is a guitarist and lecturer at the SACM at the University of Cape Town. He has picked up many accolades over the years including a KANNA Award for Best Male Artist at the 2010 KKNK Festival and two SAMA nominations for Best Instrumental Album. He has played with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and the Johannesburg Philharmonic, as well as performing many solo shows.
Carli Spanish Dance Productions follow the international Spanish Dance Society syllabus. Their aim is to encourage a love of Spanish/flamenco dancing.
