Music pioneers

Real music pioneers, UB40 was established in 1979. After taking a break, the band reformed in 2013 and has been at the top of their game since then, developing into a formidable touring outfit. In 2014 they released a critically acclaimed top 10 album, Silhouette, and have plans to release a new studio album later this year.

“UB40 is an old favourite among so many South Africans,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “Their songs are iconic, and extra special as they formed part of the soundtrack of so many people’s youth. It will be fantastic to see them playing at GrandWest. Fans should buy tickets soon to ensure they do not miss out on the show.”

Campbell said: “For me, it’s all about promoting reggae. At the end of the day, fans don’t care about what goes on behind the scenes. They only care about the music, and that’s what we’re giving them. We’re having a great time and we’re doing it in style.”
