Welcome to My Series. This is where we ask some of our favourite people what they’re watching, what they hate, what they love, and how badly they binge-watch.
Cleo Raatus will be in The Fall which opens at the Baxter in June. He was recently seen in District Six: Kanala, Black Dog/Inj’emnyama and Scenes from an Execution.

What series are you watching at the moment?
I am currently catching up on episodes of the SABC series, Keeping Score (pictured left). And I just finished watching season 6 of the US series Scandal. Due to my busy schedule, I am not very advanced with Keeping Score but the few episodes I have seen blew my mind.
What do you think of both so far?
The fact that Keeping Score is entirely in a South African language is empowering to witness. Shalima Mkongi is very well cast and slays in her role.
The latest season of Scandal was not the best but I stuck around due to loyalty and because Kerry Washington is magic. However, the last few weeks have been absolute fire and reaffirmed my love for the series.

Ultimately, do you like them – and why?
When I was younger I yearned to see more people of colour on television. I rarely saw people that looked like me play lawyers, presidents, doctors, heroes and heroines. Now I am finally living in a reality where the world sees how much magic we have and it is long overdue.
Do you have any favourite characters, and if so, who are they?
My favourite characters on TV right now are: Olivia Pope (Scandal) (pictured above) and Annalise Keating (How To Get Away With Murder). Strong black womxn for the win!
Are you a binge-watcher?
Only when the series is good. My most recent binge-watch was Season 2 of Sense8.
Can you tell us the longest time you’ve spent watching a series without leaving the couch?

I finished the latest season of Sense8 (pictured left) in one weekend. I only left my room for food and uninvited guests.
What are your best snacks/drinks/treats to have while watching a series?
Carrots and hummus … Nah, not really! I would never waste hummus on carrots. My personal trainer would refute this but the best snacks are carb-infused deliciousness. If it’s a comedy or drama: Chipniks and hummus. If it is an action or horror: popcorn and Astros.
How do you get your series?
Digital is the future, I stream all my series.

What do you think has been the mightiest, most excellent series ever made?
This is a tough one. I cannot choose but these are my favourite series: Black-ish, How to Get Away With Murder, Scandal and American Crime (pictured right). The way these series are produced is incredible, the writing is on point and the leads have been my role-models since childhood.
Have you ever cancelled a real, live social engagement to stay at home to watch series?
Yes, too many to count.
