Performers looking for a fun show should diarise 4 and 5 February, 2023, when auditions will be held at Milnerton Playhouse for a brand new production of Strictly British. Celebrating well-known British music from Vaudeville, to musicals and modern day pop, this is a show that could appeal to a wide range of people.
This replay of well-known British music aims to be vibrant and alive, so if you dance and sing and love to perform, then this could be for you!
The show will run from 6 to 20 May, with a possible extension to 28 May, so auditionees should be available for that period and rehearsals prior.
The show is directed by Kyla Thorburn with musical direction by Barend van der Westhuizen and choreography by Shayni Pappin-Davidson. Music will include that by The Beatles, The Spice Girls, artists like Adele and Ed Sheeran, along with songs from musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Matilda and Oliver. All these will be performed with a live band.
Auditions require preparation
A total cast of 12 performers is needed. The show will be hosted by an MC who is constantly aggravated by Mr. Foil, an interfering comic character who is desperate to show off his talent. The balance of the cast consists of 10 (five female and five male) adult singing and dancing performers of varying ages.
Auditions will require a certain amount of preparation of songs, dialogue and dance moves and auditionees will be required to attend both days of auditions. Auditionees must book their slot for singing auditions on Saturday 4 February, which will start from 10am. The movement auditions on 5 February commence at 11am.
Note: In order to perform in this production you will be required to become a member of Milnerton Players. The show is for a non-profit community theatre society and as such there will be no remuneration for your participation.
