Jazz on the Vlei, Love Bites 2017, moves to celebrate freedom in a small town in Casablanca! It’s 27 years since the late Nelson Mandela (Madiba) was released from prison, and South Africans and ex-patriots from all over the world will gather in a small nightclub to enjoy dancing to LP’s with vinyl DJ’s Atiyyah Khan from Future Nostalgia and Rozzano Davids, aka realROZZANO. Expect torch music by Marzia Barry – the youngest jazz singer in South Africa, plus jazz tunes by a live jazz ensemble – The Winston Siljeur Collective. So head to Forgotten Freequencies celebrates Freedom in Casablanca on Wednesday 26 April. The band plans to get patrons jiving and jazzing on the dancefloor!
Jazz on the Vlei is 5 years old and so is the host – The Jolly Carp Market. So this is a double celebration with plenty of surprises. Dress is funky, expressive and fun! Food will be Moroccan – expect lamb tagines with rice/couscous, hummus with falafel in wraps, curry and roti breyani – all with refreshing fire drinks to calm the spirit. The event will celebrate family and friend reunions. The décor will be Moroccan.
Jolly Carp Vendors will be ensconced in a ‘souk’ outside in the stretch tent. Doors will open at 5pm before the party begins, giving you time to relax and just chill! The hall inside will be Moroccan themed where the party takes place!
