It’s the festive season, which means it’s time for Cape Town comedian Alan Committie to bring us another hilarious take on the world around us. Planet Mirth is directed by Fleur du Cap Lifetime achievement winner Chris Weare, and will run at the Theatre on the Bay from 5 December 2017.

In this, his 20th one man comedy show, Committie presents a docu-comedy in the highest definition and promises everything we have come to love about his brand of comic madness – infectious energy, physical hi-jinx combined with witty wordplay and hysterical observations.

Alan Committie 'Planet Mirth'

Planet Mirth takes a comic look at … well, everything. Our planet has never been in a more precarious state and that makes it ripe for Committie to unpack how we got here, where we are and how the heck we are ever going to move forward.

Use those tears!

Using stand up, characters and sketches, Committie will attempt to hysterically unpack history, geography, science and even sport but mostly it will make you look at the world around you and laugh till you cry. And then you can collect those tears and use them to water your parched gardens!! It’s a pleasure.

Car hire, hiking, sign language, family gatherings, gallons of garnish and astrology are just some of the topics he may talk about. Part time security guard, Johan van der Walt, and de-motivational speaker, Trevor Tahor will also make appearances. This is Committie and Weare’s 19th production in partnership with each other.
