Savanna and Showmax have announced that comedian Eddie Griffin is set to headline the Laugh Africa Comedy Festival, taking place from 5 to 7 April, 2024, at the Sandton Convention Centre in Joburg.
Eddie Griffin, a multifaceted African American comedian and actor, is known for his unique style. He has had an illustrious career in stand-up comedy, and has notched up over 50 film appearances.
Familiar faces, fresh talent
The Laugh Africa Comedy Festival isn’t just about the big names, and there’ll be over 50 comedians across three diverse genres – English, vernacular, and Afrikaans. The festival is a melting pot of styles and stories, featuring local favorites like Tumi Morake, Alfred Adriaan, Mashabela, Chris Mapane, and more.
And for the first time in South Africa, social media comedy sensations will join the traditional stand-up acts – adding a modern twist to the lineup.
A roast to remember
In addition to the chuckles and belly laughs, the festival will host a comedy roast of a prominent South African media personality. Stay tuned as the name of the roastee will be revealed, who will be at the receiving end of some good-natured bantering.

Laugh Africa is all about innovating and breaking the mould. There will be a daily festival pass, so attendees can dive into a sea of laughter, enjoying access to all shows on their ticketed day.
