Two upcoming Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra concerts travel from Vienna to Verona in November 2026. The CPO invites audiences on a musical journey to Vienna on Thursday 12 November, 2026, with Mozart, Johann Strauss II and Richard Strauss bringing the city’s elegance and exuberance to the Cape Town City Hall. The concert features conductor Arjan Tien and South African pianist François du Toit in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24.

The evening opens with Mozart’s lively overture to Die Entführung aus dem Serail, followed by the concerto, which du Toit describes as “simply sublime, in that it encapsulates beauty and sadness walking hand in hand for the entire piece”.

The programme continues with the effervescent overture to Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and concludes with the sumptuous waltzes of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier Suite, evoking the charm and opulence of Vienna.
Audiences can make an evening of it at Cape Town City Hall. Go early to enjoy a sunset drink from the upper balcony, enjoy an informative pre-concert introduction to the music, and stay afterward to meet members of the orchestra.

For daytime visitors, the final dress rehearsal at 11am on 12 November is also open to the public in support of the Friends of Orchestral Music’s fundraising drive for the orchestra. Tickets to the dress rehearsal are available at Quicket.
