Pre-concert talk by Rodney Trudgeon

Having graduated from the Hochschule in Cologne and the University of Zurich, he is now a teaching assistant in Zurich. He plays a Ferdinando Gagliano violin (1795).

The Bartok Concerto, a vibrant celebration of life, was last performed by the CPO in 2002; it was premiered in 1944 by the Boston Symphony Orchestra which had commission the piece of the composer, who was languishing in America for his native Hungary. It worked miracles on his recovery and he completed it in some seven weeks and on its first performance was an immediate success.

There will be a pre-concert talk by Rodney Trudgeon open to ticket holders at 7.15pm.  Entrance to the open dress rehearsal at 11 on the day is R50 payable at the door.
