Bear witness to the ultimate battle of the curries as episode 4 of Come Dine With Me South Africa Season 5 heads to Durban on Monday 1 April, 2019 at 8pm, on BBC Brit DStv channel 120. CDWMSA Repeats are on Wednesday 3 April at 9pm and Saturday 6 April at 7pm.

Stepping into the culinary battlefield in Come Dine With Me Durban is a sports enthusiast ‘millennial’, a budding movie star, a laugh-a-minute super mum and a loud chewing air-con salesman.

If you’re looking to try your hand at creating a delicious curry, with tips from the self-proclaimed curry queens, then grab your notebook. Contestant Radhi says her go-to for making the perfect curry is using a specially mixed masala from an Indian spice store instead of using mass produced grocery store versions. Competitive Radhika says that using fresh ingredients are a must and that spices should be roasted to release oils, which brings out the flavour. According to first time curry maker, Jess, the secret to a perfect curry is following a step-by-step recipe while having your mom on speed dial.

Radhika Serren

Hosting menu: Peri peri prawns for starters, butter chicken with naan for mains and a delectable cheese cake for dessert
Why did you audition? “I love watching Come Dine With Me SA and I wanted an opportunity to show off my skills as a cook.”

Radhi Chetty
Occupation: Entrepreneur: Franchise Salon owner
Hosting menu:  A Seafood Tango starter, followed by a Luxurious Lamb Indulgence and ending off with a Sticky Toffee Indulgence
Why did you audition? “I love to cook and entertain people.”

Jess Metcalfe
Occupation: Sports coach (mostly)
Hosting menu: Figs with baked camembert cheese for starters, creamy butter chicken curry for mains and a classic Italian Tiramisu with an African Twist for dessert
Why did you audition? “I have always watched the show and I was finally old enough to enter! I am also an outgoing person who loves to host people.”

Week 5 of Come Dine With Me South Africa Monday 8 April heads back to Johannesburg to see how the latest bunch of hosts fare in the hit reality dining competition. Bubbly student and boxing enthusiast Storm takes on former actor and media maverick JC, IT guru Kyle who loves a checked shirt and loud-mouth PR and fashion fundi Lorraine. Will it be a knockout, or will each hopeful get put through the ringer?
