Cape Town food businesses are coming together this winter to host The Good Table, a series of communal soup suppers in support of Ladles of Love. Launching on Tuesday, 26 May, 2026, the events will take place on the last Tuesday of each month for four months at The Gin Bar on Wale Street.

The warm winter gathering invites Capetonians to stay in town after work, skip the traffic, and share a simple meal for a good cause. Around 70 guests will gather for a two-hour communal dining experience, sharing soup, artisan bread, wine and chocolate, with net proceeds donated directly to Ladles of Love.
Each event will be hosted at the Gin Bar on Wale Street, featuring two seasonal soups prepared by Bodega’s Chef Ryan McDonagh, served with freshly baked bread from Silo Bakery, a sweet finish from Honest Chocolate, and wine from a rotating local producer. The first event will be supported by Lomond Wine Estate, with guests being welcomed with a glass of wine on arrival and supplied on the tables during dinner.
A challenging time
Winter is traditionally one of the busiest periods for food relief organisations as colder weather places additional pressure on vulnerable communities. Initiatives like The Good Table help channel community support directly to the organisations working on the frontlines.
“Winter is a particularly challenging time for many families,” says Micaela Dale from Ladles of Love. “Initiatives like The Good Table bring people together while helping ensure that more meals reach those who need them most.”
Designed to celebrate the simple power of food, community and generosity, The Good Table offers Capetonians a chance to gather around the table while supporting a meaningful cause.Note: Space is limited to 70 pax per dinner.
