Dance for All Concerto la Danza will feature a line-up of young musicians and dancers in a special concert at Artscape. The show is directed by Allison Hendricks and performed by Dance for All students as well as young musicians from the Cape Music Institute (CMI) with musical direction by Camillo Lombard. It will be held at Artscape on 18 August 2018 at 2.15pm and 8pm.

Dance for All: Concerto la Danza

The production will celebrate the work of both Dance for All and the Cape Music Institute with students ranging from 11 to 23 years. A guest performance by the Taare Dance Company with choreography by company director Ahneesh Valodia and choreographer Maxwell Rani will be an added attraction.

Dance for All (DFA)is celebrating its 27th year in 2018. It started when When Philip Boyd, a former principal dancer with CAPAB (now Cape Town City Ballet), began township ballet classes in 1991, with a group of 34 students that he taught in a classroom in Gugulethu. He called this enterprise Ballet for All.

It developed into what is now Dance for All. With students ranging from the age of five to young adults, DFA provides top-class training in a variety of styles, including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, African and Spanish dance. Students are trained to become versatile dancers who have the technical skill, discipline and grounding to enter a career in the performing arts. DFA’s programmes reach approximately 1500 students.
