Die Heuwels FantastiesAugust is a big month for Die Heuwels Fantasties! Not only will the band be releasing two new singles (Laaste Rondtes and Bietjie Hoop in association with GWK) and two new music videos from their fifth studio album, OKAY!, but they will be featured on Jacaranda FM’s new drive time show with Rian van Heerden; they had a feature on Jukebox (5 August) and on Bravo! (6 August); will make a guest appearance on the popular soap, Binnelanders (9 August) and will provide entertainment on Toks & Tjops on 25 August.

The first single, Bietjie Hoop, was released on 4 August exclusively on Jacaranda FM, when Pierre Greeff (lead singer of Die Heuwels Fantasties), visited the studio to tell listeners more about writing and recording this special song, in collaboration with GWK (Innovate Agriculture). Neil de Klerk (CEO: Marketing and Communication at GWK), approached Die Heuwels Fantasties about writing a song that would be dedicated to farmers after the biggest part of the country was crippled by a devastating drought at the end of 2016. The perseverance and positive attitude of South African farmers was evident more than ever before.

“It only confirmed GWK’s belief that farmers are heroes,” says Neil. “We decided on Die Heuwels Fantasties because they write and produce their own music. The band’s music is also original and not limited to genre or age groups. People have different taste in music, but if we only touch the heart of one farmer with this song, it was worth it.”

Die Heuwels Fantasties welcomed the opportunity to combine the GWK message with their music and Bietjie Hoop was born. “We are proud of our song and believe that only good can come from it,” says Pierre.

Visual message

GWK felt that the inspirational lyrics and message should also be portrayed visually and a music video was made. 1988 | Films captured the true spirit and character of the agricultural community. “The production team hopes that this message will touch every farmer and let them know that their efforts do not go unnoticed and that everyone needs a little hope,” said de Klerk.

Bietjie Hoop is available on the group’s latest album, OKAY!, which was released on 5 May 2017. It can also be purchased on iTunes.

Binnelanders!

On 9 August, Die Heuwels Fantasties will be making a guest appearance on the kykNET soap opera, Binnelanders. They will be performing at Nagskof and officially release their second single for August, Laaste Rondtes.

Die Heuwels Fantasties/Binnelanders

This episode features the tragic love life of Louis Koster (played by Germandt Geldenhuys), who is engaged to Tracy Moolman (played by Corné Crous). She is manipulated by her sister, Alice (played by Laré Birk), to take revenge on Louis for something that happened in Kroonstad a very long time ago. Viewers are also wondering whether Lexi Abrahams (played by Keisha Skei) will have the courage to tell Mommy Bronwyn (played by Kim Cloete) and Daddy Steve (played by Clint Brink) that she is pregnant with her boyfriend, Ross’ (played by Luan Jacobs), baby.

Binnelanders is always looking for new talent to perform at Nagskof, the night club on the show, and when Alishia van Deventer, from Starburst Promotions, approached us about the possibility of launching the second single from Die Heuwels Fantasties’ fifth studio album (OKAY!), we welcomed the idea with open arms. ‘Laaste Rondtes’ is perfectly suited for the current storyline and reflects the emotional journey of each character in this episode of Binnelanders,” says Ernst Swart, Publicity Manager at Binnelanders.

Laaste Rondtes’ music video will launch exclusively on the kykNET programme, Jukebox, on 5 August 2017 and will be released on YouTube thereafter.
