Don’t Tell the Bride is a British reality TV series which will be broadcast every Wednesday at 7.30pm on SABC 3 from 23 May 2018. The premise of the series surrounds couples being awarded money to fund their wedding ceremony; however, every aspect of the ceremony must be organised by the groom – with no contact with the bride.
A surprise wedding!
Couples who can’t afford to marry are given £14,000 for the wedding of their dreams. But there’s a catch – they must be wed within three weeks and the groom has to plan a surprise wedding for his unsuspecting bride.
The bridegroom must organise every aspect of the event and attire, including the wedding dress, as well as the hen and stag parties. More often than not the special day turns out to be everything the Bride didn’t want on her wedding day.
Episodic synopses
Episode 1: Bianca and Adam
It was love at first swipe when fate hooked Adam up with Bianca via a dating app. So when he was handed full control of their wedding day it made sense to Adam that every wedding decision should be left to ‘fate’ too… Now, seven months pregnant, Bianca’s dreams of a simple, classic ‘day to remember’ look like being shattered when ‘destiny’ decides on a mile high marriage.
Episode 2: Maria and Ryan
Feisty, ‘Catholic” girl Maria, has placed her faith in teenage sweetheart Ryan to deliver her dream of a traditional church wedding. But he wants the ceremony in the place where they met… back at school. That and the fact that he’s designing her dress for the big day himself mean it’s unlikely her prayers are going to be answered.
Episode 3: Holly and Carl
Cowboy-loving Cole wants to put the ‘wild’ in to wedding with his western-inspired ‘rootin tootin’ plan. But controlling bride to be Holly is hoping for a warm, cosy family do. Will this bride, saddle up and stand by her man? Or will this cowboy be wanted dead or alive?
Episode 4: Kloe and Lawrence
Fun loving Loz wants to bump into his bride-to-be at a funfair themed wedding… by saying their nuptials on the dodgems! But fiancée Kloe dreams of an intimate and romantic ceremony on a beach in the Mediterranean. Will the waltzers and whirl-wizzers win her over… or will this bumper car wedding be a complete car crash?
Episode 5: Adrianna and Robert
Shy Adrianna doesn’t just want a white wedding… she wants a white white white wedding! Robert however wants his girl centre of attention, and has been inspired by his Ghanaian roots and a rather colourful imagination to come up with an African Royal Wedding – in a jungle… And the centre piece for his demure bride – a gold dress.
Episode 6: Zoe-Jade and Matthew
History-loving groom Matthew hopes to go back in time and put the Rome back in romance. But his fiery bride to be Zoe has her heart set on a classy girly affair. Can this centurion prove that love conquers all? Or will his empire come crumbling down?
Episode 7: Rebecca and Carl
Toy boy Carl hopes to make a splash in Spain as he plans to marry on the Med. But bride to be Rebecca has high expectations for a high class affair. Will Carl’s plans take flight, or will his wedding sink without a trace?
Episode 8: Stephanie and Billy
Local lad Billy believes the sty’s the limit as he plans a pig-themed wedding, but will his prim and proper bride Steph kick up a stink? Steph wants a classic, clean cut wedding, but fiancé Billy plans to put his beloved hometown of Mansfield Woodhouse on the map with a world record breaking pig parade. Can this groom save his bacon?
Episode 9: Rachel and Adam
Aussie-born Adam is going back to his roots, as he plans an 80’s Aussie soap wedding in South Shields! However, no nonsense bride to be Rachel wants a classy day. Will this up-market girl be happy ‘down under’? Or will this romantic wedding be a complete drama?
Episode 10: Becca and Jack
Big kid Jack wants to prove he can be a grown up by pulling off a haunting, horror themed wedding. But, his patriotic bride-to-be Becca dreams of a traditional Scottish affair. As Jack enlists the help of the grim reaper and covers her wedding dress in fake blood will his eerie idea be a screaming success?
Episode 11: Jazmin and Sonny
If partying was a religion, then Sonny would be pope and Ibiza his mecca… as this boy just loves a knees up. Jasmine on the other hand has left that all behind and wants to have a sophisticated wedding… So how will she react when she finds out the love of her life wants a zoo themed, Ibizan beach party wedding with everyone covered in animal print body paint?
Episode 12: Jai and Leanne
Tonight adrenalin junkie Jai wants love to lift him up high as he plans a wedding in the sky. Unfortunately, bride to be Leanne is terrified of heights. With the nuptials booked to take place on a platform 100 ft in the air, will Leanne face her fear and rise to the occasion?
