The False Bay Folk team are stoked to present their first show of 2023 in February. Bluegrass lovers don’t want to miss hearing Gravel Road, as well as talented singer songwriter Sarah McArthur.

Acts up on 7 February
The Gravel Road band consists of Nielen Prinsloo, Rob Anderson, Neil Harvey, John Bolton and Madeleine Ginn. Nielen and Neil are well-known from the band Blacksmith, and Rob and John were members of the Irish band Shanty. Madeleine recently joined them and is a familiar face at False Bay Folk.
Expect some traditional folk, bluegrass, sea shanties and general foot tapping fun.
The band has played regularly at the Aegir Brewery in Noordhoek at least once a week for the past five years or so.
Sarah McArthur is a songwriter and teacher based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has performed at premier live music venues, including the Barleycorn Music Club, where she won their songwriting competition in 2016, placed in the Top 10 in 2017, came second in 2019 and won again in 2021.

With a deep affection for a clever lyric and a melancholic tune, she writes honest and raw songs that explore the things that we all experience in our relationships and in our lives. Her music is a heartfelt nod to indie acoustic folk, and blends delicate guitar work with authentic vocals.
Sarah is a keen collaborator and is happiest sharing the stage with other musicians. Over the last few years she has recorded on the albums of Jon Shaban and Ruby June, and was most recently a part of bringing holiday cheer to Cafe Roux’s Thank Folk it’s Christmas shows with the Misty Cliffs.
She has three EPs under her belt, her first produced by Wren Hinds and a second and third (to be released soon) produced by long-time collaborator Jon Shaban.
