Triangle Project, OXFAM South Africa and the African Gender Institute have joined forces to bring Cape Town its first Queer Feminist Film Festival. The festival will be hosted in Khayelitsha at the Bertha Movie House, a community cinema in the Isivivana Centre dedicated to cultivating black and African narratives by supporting local and international black filmmakers.

The QFFF programme runs from 19 to 20 of January, paying tribute to activists involved in queer/feminist movements. The programme offers film screenings and panel discussions such as Day 1’s introduction by Roche Kester and a panel on Organising in spaces of danger moderated by Wanelisa Xaba. An open discussion will be guided in the evening by Kwezilomso Mdandazayo followed by an exhibition before closing.
Day 2 looks equally promising with a panel on the progress of South African queer/feminist movements in conversation with Pharie Sefali from the LGBTI Traditional Healers Forum and Elsbeth Engelbrecht from Triangle project as well as a Trans Solidarity panel with liberty Banks, Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Sistazhood, moderated by Nigel Patel.
Get your seats early and don’t miss this informative and inspiring event.
