“Your illness does not define you. Your strength and courage does.”
World Mental Health Day is on the 10th of October. The objective is to create awareness and support around mental health. Fine Music Radio (FMR) believes that this starts with engagement.

Stiklands’ Psychiatric Hospital has an out-patients’ department that works with people in the area. As part of a previously disadvantaged community, these patients’ bleak financial situation is exacerbated as they are unable to work. Their economic plight means there is no budget for entertainment.
To this end FMR wants to make a difference, even if it is for one day. FMR has planned an outing to the V&A Waterfront. This includes transport, a tour of The Two Oceans Aquarium and lunch at the Spur. Thanks to our sponsors for making this possible: Golden Arrow Bus Services, The Two Oceans Aquarium, The Santa Ana Spur and Pick n Pay.
The chairman of FMR’s board of directors, Johan Vos, has been involved with Stikland’s Hospital for 20 years. In 2001 he became Chairman of the Stikland Hospital Health Facilities Board. Vos said, “The patients that will benefit from this wonderful outreach will never forget the experience, and I wish to thank FMR, its station manager Mark Jennings and the sponsors for organising this unique event”.
