
Drummer Frank Paco turns heads when he’s behind the kit – he’s focused, creative and energetic. This technical rhythmist can be seen heading up his Art Ensemble on the Foyer Sessions bill at The Masque Theatre on Sunday, 3 September at 6.30pm.
The quartet features Frank on drums, Brathew van Schalkwyk piano, Peter Ndlala bass and Adelia Douw on vocals.
Impressive singer Douw was the winner of the 2015 Open Mic Jazz competition at GrandWest Casino, and also a former lead vocalist for the Delft Big Band.
Sub-Saharan jazz fusion
Audiences can expect be taken on a journey through the pulsating rhythms and sultry melodies of sub-Saharan Africa and the continent all infused with jazz elements from across the spectrum to create interesting layered fusion.

Frank is recognised as one of South Africa’s premier drummers and has played with artists such as Johnny Clegg, Bono, Angelique Kidjo, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Gabriel and more at festivals and venues such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Festival, the 46664 concert, plus at Manenberg’s and The Orbit.
