The Glenn Robertson Jazz Band is all set for the second series of their concerts titled Everything must Change. They say, “it’s a musical journey from where we have come, to where we are going.”
The band will appear at the Nassau Auditorium on Saturday, 25 March, 2023, at 6pm.
Their great line-up comprises Glenn Robertson, Michelle Robertson, Tony Drake, Bjorn Petersen, Timothy Ehrenreich and William Haubrich.
Kaleidoscope Café
In the band’s words: “Our journey continues in song and the message is love! Over the last few years all of us have experienced the need to embrace change. And we are running a second series of concerts called Everything must Change.”
“Kaleidoscope was in a venue in the centre of Claremont for many years up until 2020 when Covid hit us all. Like many other businesses we had to give up our venue which hosted so many artists over the years. Not only that, but the Pastor of Kaleidoscope, Glenn Robertson, suffered a stroke right at the beginning of lockdown. Between letting go of our venue and Glenn suffering a stroke, we truly had to embrace the winds of change. Echoed by a quote by H. Jackson Brown, Jr – When you can’t change the direction of the wind – adjust your sails.”
“A practical way of adjusting our sails, has been hosting these concerts at the Nassau Auditorium in Palmyra Road, Newlands since July 2022. We have still been able to exercise the gift of music and share the message of hope. Glenn has recovered remarkably well and is part of these concerts.”
Chapter two
“The first season of concerts’ emphasis was change, hence the title. We are now beginning the second chapter. One of the songs in the repertoire is one that everyone can relate to, What the world needs now is Love. This song was written by Burt Bacharach, a prolific writer of classic love songs who sadly passed away recently.”
The band is tight-lipped about the evening’s full repertoire, but listeners can expect songs like This guy is in love with you, Nature Boy and How Do You Keep the Music Playing.
The gig starts at 6pm, but note that due to load shedding, the different stages may affect the starting time of the concert, however they hope to keep punters informed of any changes.
