The Parlotones are on the move. They’ve just released an Orchestrated DVD and CD, which is available at retail stores nationwide. The DVD, filmed over two sold out evenings at The Teatro at Montecasino, is a must-have for longstanding fans. The works feature contemporary, yet ‘classical’ versions of their discography, while retaining the obvious Parlotones feel.
“Orchestrated has been an incredible journey for us as a band” says Kahn Morbee, lead vocalist, The Parlotones. “Our main objective was to re-work many of our songs by incorporating a chamber ensemble led by Brendan Jury. The process was very meticulous as we wanted to create alternate versions of the tracks and not just add strings etc to a song thereby giving our fans a whole new experience of songs they have been listening to over the years.”
The Parlotones Orchestrated is released in two physical formats. One is the CD with bonus DVD and the other is the DVD with bonus live CD. The Parlotones are Kahn Morbee (judge on The Voice South Africa with Karen Zoid, Lira and Bobby van Jaarsveld), Neil Pauw and Glen and Paul Hodgson. They released Episoda in 2003 then six more studio albums: radiocontrolledrobot (2005), A World Next Door to Yours (2007), Stardust Galaxies (2009), Journey through the Shadows (2012), Stand Like Giants (2013) and the recently released Antiques and Artefacts (2015). They have also released two live albums, Unplugged (2008) and Live Design (2010).
Composer/muso Brendan Jury has worked Q Department in New York, plus he has producer Arno Carsten’s 4th Solo Album,as well as conducting a 21-piece orchestra to accompany Black Coffee’s live performance, Africa Rising. Brendan also final mixed the Black Coffee Africa Rising Live DVD/CD. He is also a composer for Lalela Music (www.lalela.com)
