The young and hip Kujenga Afro jazz band opens the brand new Jazz Sundays sessions at The Square Café and Wine Bar at Century City in Cape Town on Sunday, 30 July, 2023, from 12pm to 2pm.

The Cape Town based ensemble’s name Kujenga translates to ‘build / create’ in Swahili. It  symbolises the group’s belief in their calling as musicians – to build and create meaningful experiences with every single listener.

Jazz Sundays  are hosted in conjunction with the Cape Town Music Academy (CTMA), which will select an eclectic line-up of diverse local jazz talent to accompany the eating out experience.

Known for its mouth-watering menus, The Square Café and Wine Bar will prepare exclusive meals on the day, accompanied by a variety of fine wine found in the Cape regions.

Luvuyo Kakaza, CTMA Project Director, says the new Jazz Sundays will be a highlight on the local jazz calendar. “The Square Café offers a cosy environment to take out family and friends for brunch. It offers a melting pot of South African cuisine and culture, bringing together a unique tradition of eating out with the spirited diversity of various jazz musicians appearing in the line-ups.”
