Lira Dreamchaser 2: Born Free allows fans access to Lira’s journey as she develops her latest album, Born Free.
You get a front row seat with insight into the production, songwriting process and touring that all result in being one of Africa’s biggest stars. Lira opens her heart and gets to unpack each song on the album.

All raw and uncut, this is a rare glimpse into the daily life of a musician, and how stressful it can be to launch a new album. “Defining freedom for myself was the reason behind pursuing this body of work. I am beyond excited to share this story with viewers – the joys, the challenges, the effort and experiences and ultimately chasing the dream!” said Lira, who is also a judge and coach on The Voice South Africa.

The Premier and second episode will broadcast on Fox Life (DSTV 126) from Wednesday 31 May 2017, from 8pm (CAT). The broadcast format is that 2 episodes play out back to back each week, with the exception of the grand finale, which plays out on its own.
Episode1 – Introduction
This intro unravels the thoughts, collabs, songwriting, production, promotion, design and travels during and around the creation of Lira’s 6th studio album – Born Free.
Episode 2 – Freedom
Each episode is themed with a song title off her 6th studio album. Discover the inner workings of her team and what Freedom means to her. Highlights – Lira finds her Freedom in writing, fashion sense, photo shoots, plus a live showing of the song.
Episode 3 – Be About It
Discover what Be About It means to Lira. Highlights – Lira finds her call to action through speaking engagements and motivating youths, a sky-diving experience and gig in Namibia.
Episode 4 – Unique
What Unique means to Lira. Here she visits Cape Town to promote her latest album, a skiing team building adventure for her and her band in Lesotho as well as live performance.
Episode 5 – Braveheart
Highlights in Braveheart – Lira hosts her first radio talk show in Capetown, then flies to Nigeria to collaborate with a Nigerian vocalist and shoots a music video in Lagos.
Episode 6 – Listen
Here Lira flies off to London and meets and performs with a British soul legend. Born Free is launched worldwide on iTunes. Then, a powerful live performance of this song.
Episode 7 – Born Free
Lira has a grueling promotion schedule in Durban – radio, print and an in-store promo session at a music store.
Episode 8 – Let There Be Light
Lira performs and promotes her new material unplugged live on radio, and performs for the first time in Stockholm, sees the Northern Lights, is invited to speak at a church in Joburg, plus a live gig.
Episode 9 – Do What You Love
Lira tours Europe -she visits for the first time Venice, Praque, Denmark and a few other stops along the way.
Episode 10 – Sekunjalo
She prerecords the closing credit song of Disney’s Moana. Travels and shows in Dubai, as well as an exclusive invite to perform for Vogue Italia and a live performance
Episode 11 – Rhythm Of Your Heart
A love for islands – Zanzibar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Reunion and Lira visits her family in America for a short reunion, plus this song live.
Episode 12 – I Like You
Lira flies off to Germany for 2 performances – one a collaboration with a 60 piece orchestra, an old friend and an all-Africa festival, plus the song live.
Episode 13 – Return To Me
For Return to Me she takes us back to where it all began – her township, Wattville, on the east Rand of Johannesburg
Episode 14 – Tell Me What It Means
Lira recaps the entire season, reflecting on her journey. South Africans across all walks of life give their views on what freedom means to them
Episode 15 – Lira Live : Born Free Album Launch
Watch Lira and her band explode on stage as they launch Born Free for the first time. This music special features new material from the Born Free album, as well as Lira classics
