A total of R60 000 will be given away in the 2017 FMR Bursary Trust Music Awards at the Baxter Concert Hall on Wednesday 29 March at 7.30pm.
In the tradition of all great concerts, FMR will be broadcasting the show.This is your chance to experience breath-taking and virtuoso performances. One day these young musicians may be on stage at Carnegie Hall, and you’ll have bragging rights to say, “I heard them first!”

Due to a generous grant from the Rolf-Stephan Nussbaum Foundation the winners of the Jazz and Classical categories will each receive a R20 000 prize and the runners-up R5000. There will be one winner in both the jazz and classical music category.
The finalists in the Jazz Category are:
- Robin Kock (Trumpet) South African College of Music
- Marco Maritz (Trumpet) South African College of Music
- Matthew Marais (Guitar) Parel Vallei High School, Somerset West
The finalists in the Classical Category are:
- Ga Hyang Wi (Piano) South African College of Music
- Sulayman Human (Piano) University of Stellenbosch
- Paul Loeb van Zuilenberg (Violin) South African College of Music
FMR’s Programming Manager, Rodney Trudgeon is excited about the concert, “It’s always good to see young talent on our stages and to hear them on our airwaves. Judging from previous years we expect a high standard of performance.”
