Francois van Coke is all set for his Hierdie is die Lewe Album Launch Tour. Mensdom is the vocalist’s first music video from the CD, Hierdie is die Lewe. His second full length album, This is the Life, also drops on 2 February.
“Hierdie is die Lewe is about life, the good, the bad, love and hate, the past, the future and the present,” says the rocker. This album is a natural progression from his debut album, and is a snapshot of where he is in his life right now. The vibe is introspective.
Van Coke crafted the songs with Die Gevaar. Hierdie is die Lewe was produced by Johnny de Ridder (Fokofpolisiekar) and bassist Rudolph Willemse at Soft Light City in Bellville. Drums were recorded by Jürgen Von Mechmar at Red Bull Studios.
“I’ve been listening to older pop tunes by Beach Boys and The Beatles and their influences can be heard on my album’s melodies and sound. There are still a few rock ‘n roll numbers and some ballads,” adds Francois.
Says Francois on Mensdom: “We all have one thing in common – we live, even if everything else is different. This song is about life and living with victories as well as mistakes. It is a grungy blues sing-along song about being human.”
This video serves as an appetiser for the new CD and to introduce Die Gevaar -Jedd Kossew (guitar) & Richard Onraet (guitar), Rudolph Willemse (bass, production), Walter Von Waltsleben (drums) and Sheldon Yoko (drums). In the video Die Gevaar is wearing their custom Levi’s® jackets, and you can also buy Francois van Coke and Die Gevaar patches and get them sewn onto your denim jackets at the Levi’s® store at the V&A Waterfront.
