Camissa Solutions, together with the Cederberg Municipality, will celebrate a unique heritage area with the 4th annual OH DAM Cederberg Music Festival at the Clanwilliam Dam. The festival will run from 26 to 29 April 2018.
One of the ten oldest towns in South Africa, Clanwilliam in the Cederberg is rich not only in settler history, but it is one of the areas that was inhabited by Africa’s first people – the San and the Khoi. The San and Khoi inhabited the Cederberg area from early times, leaving a rich legacy of rock art. Southern African rock art has been dated to be as old as 28 000 years, with the age of the Cederberg paintings ranging from 8 000 years to 100 or 200 years.

After Rooibos tea, which is the most significant contributor to the regional economy, tourism is the second biggest money spinner, mostly due to the Clanwilliam Dam. Its central location offers a variety of attractions to satisfy nature-lovers, adventurers, flower-viewers, water sports enthusiasts and anglers alike. In 2004 the Cederberg wilderness received World Heritage Site status as part of the Cape Floristic Region. The OH DAM Cederberg Music Festival at the Clanwilliam Dam is similar to the very popular Jazz on the Rocks Festival in Tietiesbaai and now in Mossel Bay, which sell out within hours of its launch. This too is a camping event.

Clarence Ford, Director of Camissa Solutions, and owner/promoter of the OH DAM Cederberg Music Festival, believes that these casual and friendly events are successful because the people from the Cape really appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.

And Clanwilliam is certainly beautiful nestled as it is at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains. “Clear starry skies, fresh mountain air, and a safe place for children, the Ramskop Nature Garden which is host to a vast number of indigenous species of flowers … and music. That is what the people come for and we take great pleasure in giving them these opportunities,” said Ford.
