The popular annual Picnic Concerts series held on Backsberg Estate Cellars in Paarl has received added impetus through a new partnership with Good Housekeeping mag. Four top acts are scheduled to play at the estate this summer, with Good Housekeeping coming on board as partner-promoter for these summer gigs in the shade of the Simonsberg Mountain.
So who’s all on the bill
The Backsberg Picnic Concert Series will kick-off on 26 February, 2017 with a performance by The Nomadic Orchestra. The rest of the season’s schedule sees The Blues Broers take the stage on 15 March, followed by Valiant Swart & the Akkedis Band on 12 March and Taxi Violence on 19 March.
“Wine and hospitality have always been an integral part of the Backsberg tradition,” says Back, “and our Sunday picnic concerts have allowed Backsberg to bring these two elements together in what has now become a winelands institution. We have an exciting line-up of musicians this year who will as usual rock the valley, adding to the energy and humdrum of the current harvest season. With Good Housekeeping coming on board as a partner for these shows, Backsberg’s Picnic Concerts have shown that hospitality, entertainment and lifestyle are as important and unique a feature of the wine industry as the product itself. Fans of the bands, or those who’d enjoy a day in the country, can head out to enjoy a Sunday afternoon relaxing on the lawns with a glass of wine at Backsberg, while listening to some great SA music.
Delicious food and snack boxes will be available on the day. Note: No alcohol is allowed to brought to the shows. Wine and other beverages will be on sale.
