Mercurial guitar maestro Seb Goldswain has announced dates for his debut Cape Town tour. The Durban-based player’s acoustic fingerstyle playing, charisma and stories ensure that his solo acoustic performances are always highly energetic and a show to remember.

After touring Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal earlier this year, and opening for Ard Matthews and Arno Carstens, Goldswain has had a busy year. He also plans to record his second album before 2018.

‘The craft I love so dearly’

“It has been a fantastic year for my career getting to travel around our beautiful country and perform for so many wonderful people. I cannot wait to introduce audiences in Cape Town to the craft I love so dearly and have dedicated my working life to, and to take that energy and capture some of it in studio at the end of the year when I record my next album.”

Upon releasing his debut CD, Seb was invited to open for pop star George Ezra on the Durban leg of his 2015 South Africa tour.

The Durban-based talent is also proficient in bluegrass, blues, funk, heavy rock, country and jazz. He encompasses these into his original electric material. His tour, sponsored by Marshall Music Hillcrest and Guitar Gallery, kicks off on Thursday 2 November at The Thomas Easton in Mowbray, followed Café Roux in Noordhoek with guest Jonathan Tait, and finishes with a performance and guitar clinic at Paul Bothners in Claremont.

Quotes

“Epic player from Durban I’ve had the pleasure of watching a few times. I met Seb years back when he was a wee boy. Turbo talent! Super underrated!” – Dan Patlansky.

“South African guitarist Seb Goldswain is an omnivore chef at the transnational musical banquet. His playing expands on the hyper-virtuosic progressive rock guitar heroes of the 70s with a world-spanning selection of genre-transgressing ingredients. Whatever he cooks up, it’s a recipe for surprise” – Peter McElhinney/Style Weekly USA
