
The Cape Cultural Collective (CCC) is presenting Sisters Shining, a concert honouring women’s profound contributions to the arts and society. This event takes place on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at 3pm at the Novalis Ubuntu Institute in Wynberg.
Held during Women’s Month, Sisters Shining promises an afternoon of captivating performances by exceptional South African artists, expressing their voices through spoken word, music, and dance. The concert honours women’s strength, resilience, and creativity while fostering reflection and appreciation.
Acclaimed actress Jill Levenberg (renowned for her role as “Moena” in Suidooster) will host, lending elegance and gravitas to the event.

Programme highlights include
- POETRY:
Khadija Heeger: Celebrated for her poignant, politically charged verses on identity and social justice.
Imān Omar: A rising star exploring contemporary issues with lyrical honesty. - MUSIC:
Lungiswa Plaatjies: A luminary of traditional Xhosa music, who blends heritage with contemporary sounds.
Melorie Jane Trio: A dynamic jazz ensemble led by pianist Melorie Jane de Villiers (known for her sophisticated harmonies/improvisation).
Triple C Ensemble: A vibrant and versatile musical group arising from the Cape Cultural Collective itself, the Triple C Ensemble is known for showcasing South Africa’s diverse musical heritage. - DANCE: Likhwezi Dancers: An expressive fusion of traditional African and contemporary dance storytelling.
