Rugby star Siya Kolisi and Boity Thulo flicked the switch at the Moët & Chandon Golden Tree Lighting Ceremony on 29 November 2019 at the V&A Waterfront Silo District.

It was a balmy Cape Town evening filled with festive cheer, which saw thousands gather to watch as the Moët & Chandon Golden Tree lit up against Table Mountain’s iconic silhouette. The collective joy was palpable as the grand tree’s twinkling lights sparkled in unison to the sounds of Nessun Dorma sung by opera singers Given Nkosi and Magdalene Minnaar.

For those that missed the opener, there’s an additional three V&A Waterfont Festive Fridays on 6, 13 and 20 December at 8.30pm, and Moët & Chandon have organised an extra Golden Tree lighting experience on 6 December at 8.30pm.

Four-storeys high

South Africa’s Moët & Chandon Golden Tree Lighting Ceremony has now found its place in the festive history books. Built with over 2000 recycled champagne bottles and sitting at four-storeys high, the Moët & Chandon Golden Tree is wrapped in a shimmering gold ribbon created using over 2000 discs.

The Moët & Chandon Christmas Tree is in front of Zeitz MOCAA at the V&A Waterfront Silo District. Visitors will be able to purchase Moët & Chandon minis from bars around the tree and festive specials are available at selected restaurants.

The Moët Golden Tree is in the Silo District until 6 January, 2020. It’s all a #moetmoment.
