Bastos is a veteran singer and guitarist who has performed on stages in many parts of the world, while Khoi Konnexion uses traditional instruments to create movements and sound aimed at cultural awakening and emotional growth.

The Rosa Choir grows in strength with each performance, fascinating audiences with its multilingual offerings, its infectious energy and uniquely diverse make up. The choir will be joined by the 20 children of the Junior Rosa Choir for their final offering.

Azanian Aesthetics appear for the first time on a CCC stage. The group uses indigenous sounds and instruments, including umrhube, umakhweyane, uhadi and nyungwe nyungwe and seeks to assert African identity.

Khadija Heeger and Topollo TP Mokhati

Poet Khadija Heeger and the young Topollo TP Mokhati will make up the spoken word section of the programme, further bolstering an already strong line-up.

Bellydancer Mish Hendricks, from the Bellyphunk Studio, will undoubtedly add an electric energy to the evening. Thami Baba and Profound Ndabizetha, each respected artists in their own right, will be the MCs for what promises to be an amazing evening of entertainment.

Once more, the Buya Afrika drummers from Langa will kick off the evening with their energetic rhythms.

Elizabeth Schutter, CCC secretary, has called on arts and culture lovers to attend in big numbers. “Last year our Africa themed programme was one of our biggest ever, but I know Awesome Africa will be even bigger and better,” she said.

“In a climate of afro pessimism, it is so important to celebrate our continent and tell all of her stories especially the good ones, “said CCC Steering Committee member June Knight.

There will be food on sale. The event will also be live-streamed.
