ImproGuise, Cape Town’s oldest and best loved improv troupe, is over the moon about returning to perform three nights of their favourite improvised formats at one of their favourite venues in Cape Town, the intimate Alexander Upstairs.
With over 20 years of improv experience and a huge repertoire of improv styles and formats, ImproGuise has decided that for this short run they will bring you three favourite formats nominated by three of your favourite improvisers.

They start off the three day run with Anne Hirsch’s (pictured right) favourite format: TheatreSports – A Night of Annebelievable Fun. This is traditional old-school, highly competitive, short form improv, where teams of actors compete against each other in a series of short games based on suggestions from the audience.
The second night is Leon Clingman’s favourite: SuperScene. This is where five actors take to the stage and each one directs the others. One by one the scenes are voted off by the audience with a clap-o-meter. At the end there is one winner of the ultimate prize of SuperScene.
On the final night, they will perform Megan Furniss’s favourite and fairly new format—Tribute, which is an improvised tribute show about a made up band, with real, made up songs based on titles from the audience. Raucous, rambunctious fun!
