We’re not even finished the current series of The Voice UK on ITV Choice (DStv channel 123, Sundays from 6pm), and it has been announced that The Voice UK will return to ITV for an eighth season in 2019.
But that’s not all!
A spokesperson for the reality series has also announced a brand new format change that will allow for bigger groups to take part as auditions will now be opened to trios as well as solo artists and duos. Says ITV Studios’ creative director Katie Rawcliffe: “We know there are many talented trios out there across the UK and we want to offer them the chance to show off their vocal harmonies on The Voice UK stage.”
Battles, Knockout rounds
Meanwhile back in the current series of The Voice UK, the show broadcast its final ‘Battles’ episode, then entered the nail-biting ‘Knockout’ round.
The Voice Knockouts saw the coaches team up with their mentors, with Olly Murs joined by Craig David, will.i.am by the Black Eyed Peas, Leona Lewis and last year’s winner Mo Jamil with Jennifer Hudson and the inimitable Kylie Minogue with Sir Tom Jones.
Says ITV Choice channel director Katherine Wen: “Tense, nerve-wracking, but most of all hugely entertaining.”
