THAT Wac Co is currently performing at The Drostdy Theatre in Stellenbosch. They’re bringing Miles Tredinnick’s TWIST to life – “a murder, mystery comedy” that will have you guessing the whole play through.
THAT Wac Co. is a group of professional actors who live in the Wineland areas of Paarl and Wellington. The Co. was formed in 2016 to express the group’s desire to entertain. “We wanted to be the masters of our own destiny producing and performing English language plays of our choosing.” Coming from different backgrounds, each member brings their own experience and creativity to the company.
‘Suidooster, Modder en Bloed’
Leande Engelbrecht is trained in modern dance, tap and musical theatre and has theatre, TV and film experience. Francois Coertze has had numerous TV and film roles such as Mike Duff in Suidooster and Os Le Grange in Modder en Bloed. Amy Anley, who also directs THAT Wac Co.’s productions has theatre, TV, film and commercial credits, including the lead in Diana, A Tribute to the People’s Princess. Enver Koopman finished his acting training in 2015 and has gone straight into playing the lead role in TWIST.
With their experience in the performing arts industry spanning over 40 years and total commitment to the art of theatre, this evolving theatre group works hard to deliver quality performances.
Tredinnick’s TWIST was produced on a minimum budget, and they are lucky enough to have the support of the writer, who gave them permission to produce his play in South Africa. The play has also been staged at the Old Mill Theatre in Paarl.
