Legendary Cindy Alter is one of those rare artists who really connects with her audience. For some listeners her music and her voice get under their skin and leave them feeling like something profound has just happened.
From her early years as front-woman for the legendary Clout act – the 12 million-selling, worldwide hit band, who made a mark with their most played evergreens such as Substitute and Save Me – to her time on local and European stages in the frontline of multi-cultural, ground breaking band, Zia, Cindy has never compromised. She gives her all.
Returning to South Africa from Los Angeles as a singer/songwriter, Cindy finally found her truest form of expression – basically flying solo.
It’s just her, that voice, her 12-string guitar and those songs, and that is all it takes.
Alter’s struggles, her triumphs, her stories, are remarkable. Through it all she has not just survived … she has thrived.
After touring locally and in the USA, Los Angeles and Nashville, she is in Cape Town this January, airing a new album, plus an autobiography titled – No Substitute.
Her Unplugged & Thriving tour is on the road and fans can get to see her at two dates on the peninsula.
