The live stream concert, hosted by Africa Rising in partnership with Live Love, is a charity event aimed at raising funds for the hard-hit live events and entertainment industry with funds raised going towards Feed Our Crew – an initiative set to assist struggling freelance professionals – and community initiatives by Live Love.
The event will will feature Maps Maponyane, as Master of Ceremonies with headline acts, Jerusalema hitmaker Master KG, and the globally renowned Ndlovu Youth Choir.
Whilst the event is free, guests are encouraged to donate online from as little as R30 – each person donating will go into a draw to win an exclusive VIP experience at the event on Robben Island with each donation counting as one entry into the draw.
“We would like to honour all the theatres, venues, technical providers and events companies that ensure every show is a magical experience. We trust that our performance at Africa Rising will encourage you and give you hope that we will rise!,” says Ralf Schmitt, Musical Director of the Ndlovu Youth Choir (pictured right).
Africa Rising is a non-profit organisation that brings music and travel to the world by telling inspiring African stories through uniquely produced music experiences. These are brought to life by broadcasting live performances of Africa’s biggest artists, set in iconic locations on the continent.
Through such performances, Africa Rising is able to raise money that will be invested back into not only the live events and entertainment industry that has suffered due to Covid-19 pandemic, but also assist communities in urgent need of financial assistance – through the NGO, Live Love.
