Ster-Kinekor will screen an intimate portrait of the superstar DJ Avicii and excerpts from his last performance. On 2 November, Avicii: True Stories will screen for one night only.
The long-awaited documentary concert follows Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter and artist Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling. The DJ shocked fans when he announced that he would no longer perform live. For those who have never been to any of his live shows, this is the chance to be part of his last concert.
The film traces Avicii from his early beginnings, all the way to his chart-topping, global radio hits, and recounts his struggles with his physical and mental health – a taboo subject in the party world of Electronic Dance Music.
The long form documentary shows him in different lights from mega homecoming shows in Stockholm in front of 80 000 people through to more personal interviews. It also shows 30 minutes of Avicii’s last ever performance at Ushuaia in Ibiza in August 2016.
Avicii: True Stories features contributions from fellow artists such as DJ Tiesto, David Guetta and Nile Rodgers. It takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster as the DJ talks about the pressures and intensity of fame.
