Cast for It’s Only a Play at Fugard The cast for It’s Only a Play at the Fugard Theatre has been announced, with a number of award-winning actors in the line-up. The South African premiere production of Terrence McNally’s acclaimed play will run in The Fugard Theatre from 14 April 2020.

The production will be directed by The Fugard Theatre’s Artistic Director Greg Karvellas (Master Harold … And the Boys, The Road to Mecca, The Father, Shakespeare in Love, Clybourne Park, Bad Jews, Statements After An Arrest Under The Immorality Act).

It’s Only a Play, written by four-time Tony winner Terrence McNally, is a celebration of theatre at its best … and theatre people behaving at their not-so-best. It’s alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender – and proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage.

It’s opening night of Peter Austin’s new play The Golden Egg, and he’s anxiously waiting to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big Opening Night with his “best” friend, a television star, his novice producer, his doped-up diva, his genius director, a lethal drama critic and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant on his first night in Manhattan.

Cast for It’s Only a Play
