Clowns Without Borders South Africa is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a one-off Comedy Benefit Showcase at The Fugard Studio Theatre at 8pm on 21 August, 2017.

The showcase will feature the comic talents of Rob van Vuuren, Nik Rabinowitz, Sne Dladla, Shimmy Isaacs, Daniel Mpilo Richards, Yaaseen Barnes and Cj Benson. This stellar line up of some of South Africa’s best comedians is sure to entertain.

Bringing laughter to children in crisis

Clowns Without Borders SA is an artist-led humanitarian organisation dedicated to providing laughter and emotional relief to children and families affected by crisis around the world. Since its inception, Clowns Without Borders SA has implemented more than 800 interventions with performances and arts-based workshops for over 450 000 children and families. The group has also helped bring positive parenting programmes to over 100 000 families throughout sub-Saharan Africa to reduce violence against children. Recent projects include a tour for over 20,000 refugees in South Sudan in April 2017, and an intercultural storytelling project to bridge communities in George, Western Cape.

Ubuntu Clown Fun(d)

Proceeds from the upcoming event will support the Ubuntu Clown Fun(d), which sends artists to communities affected by crisis in South African and internationally. The healing work of the Clowns has brought joy to families in communities affected by poverty, natural disasters, HIV/AIDS, and violence. Their motto is “children being children again.”
