To open Season 2 of the Endler Concert Series 2018, in the spirit of the World Choir Games, three outstanding choirs will be featured – Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin), Simon Estes Choir (Khayelitsha), and Amici De Lumine youth choir (Cape Town).
This big vocal splash happens on Saturday 21 July 2018, at 8pm in The Endler Hall in Stellenbosch.
In 2018, for the first time ever, the 10th edition of the World Choir Games (an INTERKULTUR event) will happen on the African continent in Tshwane. The World Choir Games is where amateur choirs of the world are invited for 11 days to meet singers from all over the world in competitions, at Friendship Concerts and major singing projects.
South African choral music
Here they experience the very special spirit and character of South African choral music, share their common passion for singing and get inspired by each other.
As part of their South African tour to the World Choir Games, the Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin) will be touring to Stellenbosch to continue their choral exchange. This choir is made up of music students from the University of the Arts Berlin, as well as trained singers and other members with many years of choral experience.
The Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin) will feature in the first half of the concert singing works by Monteverdi, Reger, Whitacre and Mäntyjärvi’s Four Shakespeare songs amongst others.
Simon Estes Choir
After interval they will be joined by two local choirs – Simon Estes Choir (Khayelitsha) and Amici De Lumine youth choir (Cape Town), and for a few combined items at the end of the concert.
Head out to the Endler Hall for this special concert and share in South Africa’s rich choral tradition.
