From Koe’siestes To Kneidlach is the bizarre, comedic and true story of what happens when a girl from the Cape Flats gets involved with a Jew-ish boy from Joburg’s East Rand – and you can watch the stage show online from 26 June to 10 July 2020. Tickets are only R60 and are now available for purchase on Quicket.co.za or the direct link below for use throughout the run.
Join Chantal (Chantal Stanfield) as she navigates a world of new Jewish experiences – from meeting the boyfriend’s family at her first shabbos ever to late-night benching (no, not the gym kind)! She wrestles with confusion over her identity and the various labels that are placed on her while trying to understand Yiddish (oy vey!), gefilte fish and decades-old faribels! She tries to get to grips with a culture and heritage that is so vastly different to her own, and along the way we meet the omnipresent voice of her mother, her gay best friend and her first Rabbi.
This one-woman kosher comedy is written and performed by Chantal Stanfield and directed by theatre luminary Megan Furniss. Show music is compiled by Paul Choritz, ad pre-show music compiled by RJ Benjamin. Lighting design at the Baxter show is by Megan Furniss and Alfred Rietmann.
From Koe’siestes To Kneidlach was first co-produced by Daphne Kuhn and Kizara Kreative to great success at Theatre on the Square in Joburg in 2017. This feat was repeated at the Baxter Theatre over the festive season of 2017-18, co-produced by the Baxter Theatre and Kizara Kreative. Public demand ensured that this delightful show enjoyed numerous private and corporate once-off shows before its final return season back at Theatre On The Square in mid-2018.
Tickets are available for purchase now and throughout the two weeks of the run. Once ticket(s) are bought, the purchaser can watch the show numerous times throughout.
