Sonik Citizen combine rock, blues and soul using the talents of multi instrumentalist Mark Fransman. The trio features Fransman on guitar and vocals, Eugene Ackerman bass and Paul Tizzard drums. Hear them at The Crypt on Wednesday, 15 March, from 8pm to 11pm. This is a #ConcertsSA gig.
The Ramon Alexander Trio appears on Thursday, 16 March. Ramon’s latest album Echoes from Louwskloof is a collaborative ‘labour of love’. Pianist Ramon also performs at the upcoming Cape Town International Jazz Festival at the CTICC this year.
The line-up is Annemie Nel – drums, Lionel Beukes – bass & vox and Alexander – piano.

On Friday, 17 and Saturday, 18 March Afro Fiesta embrace reggae, rumba, salsa, cha-cha, bolero, meringue and kwasa-kwasa. They are fronted by Christian Bakalanga guitar/vocal, Felix Garemua electric and acoustic guitar and vocals, Djo Ikotela bass, Jason Tamba on acoustic guitar, Glody Dinga on the drums and congas, Daddy Bassing bass and congas, Mofaya Mermans Mosengo is on congas and lead vocals.

Gypsy jazz dates back from the 30’s when The Hot Club de France was founded by guitar player Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephan Grapelli. Sharena Sol play the “hotclub swing” brilliantly with violinist Petrus de Beer, accordionist Stanislav Anguelov, virtuoso guitarist Dave Ledbetter and double bass player Charles Lazar – on Thursday 23 March.
Enjoy an evening with Sylvia Mdunyelwa, George Werner piano, Norman Saul bass and Stix Mrwebi drums on Friday, 24 March. The Erika Lundi Quartet features on Saturday 25 March. She’s joined by pianist Gary Hendricks, bassist Gary Kriel and drummer Ivan Bell.
